8 of the best Destiny exploits and cheeses
Now, I wouldn’t say that Destiny actively hates its players, but it sure doesn’t do them any favors. Dailies, weeklies, reputation grinding, Crucible matches, raids there’s a seemingly never ending demand on your time just to have a chance at finding a good new weapon or piece of armor. So, naturally, players have decided to work smarter, not harder. It seems that high-level Destiny play isn’t so much about the loot grind as it is about finding every single glitch, exploit, or ‘cheese’ as possible and taking advantage of it until Bungie decides to patch it shut. But there’s always another piece of cheese around the corner. These are some of the best ones.
First team beats Destiny Vault of Glass raid
There were boss fights in massive arenas, an impenetrable maze and time-travel.
Why is it that the game code does not do auto-matchmaking for raids Hasn’t happened since Vault of Glass, will never happen in the future.
But now, following several stories of six-man teams meeting each other just outside of the entry point to the Vault, Bungie have stated they are looking into possibly including matchmaking. Yet, we understand its limitations. In the recipe of a Bungie game, Matchmaking has always contributed the ingredient of a team built to play one match of competitive multiplayer.
Most of the raiding parties who have emerged victorious from the Vault of Glass have sworn that one weak link would have doomed their chain. There have been other stories, of course. Strange tales have reached our ears — tales of total strangers who have banded together to see the Raid all the way through to a triumphant finale.
Keep sounding off about it, and maybe someday some matchmade Fireteam mates will hear you, too. Although they once stated they were considering it, Bungie have confirmed in an interview with…. On Destiny’s Vault of Glass
I should have listened. Bungie was right. When Bungie said there would be no matchmaking in Vault of Glass there was a mini-uproar.

It might be a week later than expected, but Bungie has finally released a new hot fix that will significantly change the way players experience Destiny ‘s endgame. As promised, this new update will prevent players from pushing Atheon off his platform and it will add a random element to that final fight. For Destiny players, especially those who regularly run the Vault of Glass , this hot fix represents a big change in strategy.
Before, players would typically group into two teams and tackle Atheon in an organized fashion. Now, there will be a few seconds during each teleport where players will need to regroup. The wording of the Destiny hot fix suggests that this random teleport was always supposed to be a part of the Atheon fight , but it’s hard to imagine that was the case.
Prior to launch, Bungie was out there touting the Raid as an experience that required strategy and communication , hence why there was no matchmaking. Pushing Atheon off the edge, on the other hand, was an exploit, but one that many Destiny players had come to accept as canon. Instead players will have to tackle him the old-fashioned way, or try to find new ways to push him. The hot fix also includes some stability improvements for players who were receiving error code Zebra or found themselves repeatedly Kicked to Login or Kicked to Orbit.
Bungie considers adding matchmaking feature for Destiny Raids
IGN just released Vault of Glass endgame raid video and it seems like there’s no matchmaking for it. So you’ll need 5 more friends who can nolife with you for six hours or go home and not be able to do it at all. At first they announce we have only one explorable location per planet and now this? Hopefully the game is good throughout and not just the end-game Because what I’ve read there’s two “raids” labelled as not an MMO but yet uses the diction of one, oh activision one is the devil’s lair but easy medium hard.
And at the final level there’s one more raid.

Raid is a game mode of Destiny. Raids are 6-player cooperative assassination missions that are of high challenge, and require communication between players to succeed. Two difficulty levels exist for raids: normal, and hard. The normal mode must be completed before the harder ones can be attempted. This means that players who have completed the normal difficulty cannot take players through the hard mode even if they are the fireteam leader. The normal mode is designed to teach players raid mechanics, and how to operate as a team.
The hard mode provides tougher enemies, additional objectives and a harsher death penalty. Raid Lairs are a Raid activity that debuted in Curse of Osiris. Like Raids, Raid Lairs are six-player activities that feature puzzles, challenging bosses, and exclusive loot, as well as Normal and Prestige difficulty options. Where Raid Lairs differ is their length: they are designed to be shorter encounters than full Raids: Eater of Worlds is approximately the same length as Crota’s End , while Spire of Stars is slightly longer.
Players need to assemble their fireteam before entering the raid.

While it might not happen anytime soon, Bungie says fans calling for raid Vault of Glass currently doesn’t support matchmaking due to the.
A weekly update from Destiny developers Bungie has revealed that the studio is considering adding matchmaking to their end-game raids. Destiny’s raids are the most challenging parts of the hit game, requiring six players level 26 or above to team up for a lengthy test of endurance. As it stands the game’s only raid so far, Vault of Glass, requires six players who know each other — rather than matching up strangers through the matchmaking system used in other areas of the game.
Asked about raid matchmaking in their weekly update Bungie said: “The best I can do to answer your question is to let you know that you’ve been heard. We’re having conversations about how Matchmaking might support the more challenging activities in Destiny. The gist of their answer suggests concerns that if they opened up raids to matchmaking that a group of strangers wouldn’t, in most instances, be able work together effectively enough to complete the tough-as-nails mission.
What Bungie has to weigh up is what’s worse: the risk players regularly failing the raid when teaming up with the strangers, and the frustration it causes, versus leaving many players unable to gather six people to play at once with no way of playing that part of the game they purchased. You don’t need to sell us too hard on the value of Matchmaking at Bungie. It’s something we helped to pioneer. Yet, we understand its limitations. In the recipe of a Bungie game, Matchmaking has always contributed the ingredient of a team built to play one match of competitive multiplayer.
Is there matchmaking for Vault of Glass???
We had a cool chat, and I included a bunch of quotes in the feature we just ran on the main site. Smith, who back in his game journalist days actually worked at Kotaku for a stint, worked with a small team to create the Vault of Glass. They were operating under significantly different design constraints than the rest of the Destiny team, and it shows in the finished product. The Vault of Glass is the best thing in Destiny by a long shot.
Here’s our full conversation, with occasional edits for clarity.
The raid requires the 6-man fireteam to be not only skilled and geared, but also coordinated. There is no automatic matchmaking for Vault of.
I appreciate the craftspersonship of the game, but I seem to find it ultimately forgettable. I also failed to appreciate the casualness of this grind. The daily and weekly challenges are exactly how casual mobile games games more interested in regular play than uninterrupted play keep a player coming back.
Destiny is for the most part a casual shooter and it fulfils that role superbly. The subtly of how it does this is something I failed to really appreciate until I realised I was playing it for like 30 minutes a day, every day. There is also the obtuseness of its systems which I called out as quite annoying in my Notes. How the Light system works to get you from 20 to 30 is never explained well in the game.
Neither is the fact that different colour shields are susceptible to different elemental weapons explained. Playing with friends in recent weeks have shown me more depth in both the moment-to-moment play and the overarching grind that I had not noticed for dozens of hours of play. This still annoys me, but I also think it is deliberate.
I think it is going for a pre-internet schoolyard dissemination of information thing, where your friend heard from a friend about how to find MissingNo in Pokemon. The challenges were different, the strategies required were different, the environment was different, the type of attention demanded of the player is different, the whole way I related to the game and other players was different.
A series of obscure puzzles-cum-boss-battles block your passage where you need to do very specific things keep three parts of the map occupied at once; not be seen by this enemy type; kill that enemy type particularly fast, etc , but importantly, the game never tells you what to do at any given time.
